Alberta Labour Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from Alberta Labour (the “Site”) or otherwise provide your personal information for the purposes of using the job search and job application features provided therein.

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

    – “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.

    – “Web beacons,” “tags,” and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.

    – Google web analytics services may use cookies and browser information to provide demographic and other statistical information about the visitors to our website.

When you provide personal information for the purposes of creating a company profile, a job posting, or an applicant profile, we collect and store information such as your name, education and/or work history details, contact details, and address. You provide this information in order to participate in the "job search," "job posting," and "job application" functionality of the Site. Collectively, this is referred to as "Application Information"

Additionally when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers and PayPal information), email address, and phone number.  We refer to this information as “Order Information.”

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information, Application Information, and/or Order Information.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices.

You never need to provide personally identifiable information to search for jobs on our Site. Logging into the Site, and providing personal information, is always optional for you (although logging in does give you access to more information and prospects).

Posting your resume on the Site puts you in front of employers with open positions each day. When you post your resume, we automatically create a registration for you using the email address and password that you supply. When you return to the Site in the future you will use that same email address and password to access and edit your existing resume. Posting your resume gives you the most visibility to the broadest employer audience possible by making your resume searchable in our candidate database. Any registered Employer who purchases access to the database can view your resume and contact details (to the extent you include them in your resume).

You may remove your resume from our searchable database at any time. However, employers, recruiters and others who have paid for access to that database, as well as parties who have otherwise gained access to the database may have retained a copy of your resume in their own files or databases. We cannot control the retention, use or privacy of resumes or profiles that have been downloaded by third parties. Accordingly, you should not put information you would not want made public in your resume.

HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations) as well as to connect employers and candidates. Additionally, we use this Order Information to:

Communicate with you;

Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud; and

When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

We may use your personal information to contact you and deliver information to you that, in some cases, is targeted to your interests (such as relevant job postings, services, advertisements, educational or other career development opportunities), or provide administrative notices or communications applicable to your use of the Site. If at any time you decide you no longer wish to receive these communications, you may opt out of any further receipt by following the opt out provisions provided in each such communication. The Site may also aggregate certain non-personally identifiable information about its users (such as occupation, location, education and experience) and use such anonymous information to prepare reports that it provides to its Users.

To improve the Site and services offered, we may use business partners to help us design and operate our website or provide other services to support the Site. For example, we may hire a company to run certain website applications or help us analyze our data. Unless otherwise indicated on our website, if we allow our business partners to access the personal information we collect, it will be for limited purposes and in compliance with this privacy policy.

You should be aware that when you choose to publicly display or distribute personal information (such as your email address, telephone number or resume) on the Site, that information can be collected and used by others. This may result in unsolicited messages from third parties for which this Site is not responsible.
